Viral Video Member of North Sumatra Regional People's Representative Council Stealing a Watch at a Mobile Phone Store, Apologizes and Claims It Was Accidental

The video's narration states that the perpetrator is a member of the North Sumatra Regional People's Representative Council from the PDIP Faction, Anwar Sani Tarigan.

The video shows a man believed to be Anwar Sani wearing a white shirt, long pants, and carrying a small bag.

The man seemed to be looking at items in the store, then walked out while taking something and putting it in his pocket, then left. According to reports, the theft occurred on Thursday, March 30, 2023.

"A man in a white shirt was caught on CCTV, allegedly taking a watch belonging to a Samsung mobile phone store worker on Gatot Subroto Street, Medan. The viral video of the theft of Samsung employees' watches has been revealed. The perpetrator is quite surprising. It turns out that the thief of the watch is Anwar Sani Tarigan, a member of the North Sumatra Regional People's Representative Council from the PDIP Faction," wrote the description in the video.

Kanit Reskrim of Medan Baru Police, Iptu Masagus, confirmed the report of the theft of the watch allegedly committed by Anwar Sani.

"We are currently identifying the perpetrator. We are still examining all the witnesses," he said.

After the video went viral, Anwar Sani Tarigan, a member of the North Sumatra Regional People's Representative Council from the PDI Perjuangan Faction, apologized in a written statement. Anwar claimed that he accidentally took the watch.

"I have apologized to Novi, the owner of the watch. This was purely a mistake, accidentally taken because the store employee stated that the watch was mine without me checking inside the bag whether it was really my watch or not, so I just took the watch," said Anwar Sani.

Anwar argued that the watch was similar to his, so it was accidentally taken.

He only realized a few moments later that the watch was not his because someone informed him.

"I have personally apologized to the watch owner in front of their family. I apologize to the owner, their family, and the public for this incident. There was no intention to possess it, this was purely a mistake," said Anwar Sani.

He requested that this incident not be blown out of proportion as it happened beyond his control of consciousness.

Anwar mentioned that he had a lot on his mind amidst his busy activities, causing him to lose focus.

"The reconciliation process has reached a point of agreement between both parties and the report has been withdrawn by the complainant," said Anwar Sani.
