Dream - Dream friends have ever had problems with band-aids? Sometimes, some of us have difficulty applying band-aids to scratched fingers because the adhesive is on both sides.
Often, two sides of the adhesive plaster are stuck to each other before completely closing the wound on the finger. Kotone Ugamochi, a girl from Japan, also has the same complaint.
"He also tried to find a solution to make the bandage on his wound more comfortable to use. The 10-year-old child created an innovation in the form of a bandage that is easy to apply on the finger."
This innovation was conceived by Ugamochi in 2021 when his finger was injured. The elementary school students in Egakawa, Ibaraki Prefecture, had difficulties in applying bandages to wrap the wound on their fingers.
Because of the difficulty, Ugamochi's mother also helped to attach the wound plaster to Ugamochi's finger. Unfortunately, the wound plasters stuck together on both sides that are adhesive.
Because of that problem, Ugamochi and his mother took the initiative to cut one end of the plaster. Furthermore, Ugamochi and his mother also conducted a small experiment by moving the gauze pad on the wound plaster to one end. According to Ugamochi and his mother, the wound plaster from this experiment is easier and more comfortable to use.
In 2022, Ugamochi registered the results of his experiment at the World Youth Invention Exhibition 2022, one of the global exhibitions for young inventors. His innovation in creating a non-sticky wound plaster led Ugamochi to win a bronze medal in this prestigious event.
The breakthrough designed by Ugamochi indeed looks simple. Nevertheless, this wound plaster is able to become a solution to the common problem of plasters sticking to each other. "Sometimes, the adhesive part of the plaster sticks to the wound and it feels very painful. With this plaster, it will be easier to stick it on the finger," said Ugamochi while showcasing his invention."
New innovation in wound plaster then caught the attention of Matsumotokiyoshi, one of the major pharmaceutical companies in Japan. Matsukiyo, one of the brands of the pharmaceutical company, then developed the product for the 10-year-old child and marketed it under the Matsukiyo-Easy-Wrap Finger Plaster brand.
