Dream - Playing, synonymous with toddlers and elementary school children (SD). Usually done in a playground, with cute toys or other games that make children happy.
Did you know, Mom and Dad, that playing is also very important for teenagers? We often forget that children will learn many things through positive games, including teenagers.
"Hilary Conklin, Ph.D., a researcher and professor in the Department of Teacher Education, DePaul University, Chicago, United States, said that games for teenagers are certainly the same as games for younger children. "This is usually determined by the child themselves, who have choices of games and build creativity. Playing for teenagers usually involves creative or imaginative elements. When engaged in games, teenagers usually feel happy," said Conklin."
"The teenage brain grows and changes rapidly," said Ken Ginsburg, M.D., MSEd, founding director of the Center for Parent and Teen Communication and author of the book "Congrats—You're Taking a Teen!".
He said that adolescence is a time when we ask fundamental questions, 'who am I?' and answer other questions like, 'am I normal?' and 'how do I fit in?'. "The development of the brain and exploring one's personality make games a very important tool for teenagers to recognize themselves," said Ginsburg.
Usually teenagers like to play costumes, video games or maybe other imaginative games that are complicated. Not only does it make them happy, playing can help reduce the stress levels of teenagers which are usually very high due to environmental pressure. So, let teenagers spend their time playing. It can be said that this is also very necessary for them. Don't let teenagers be too burdened with tutoring and academic activities.
Teenagers who regularly engage in games and physical activities also have a tendency to have stable mental health. An article in the American Journal of Play in 2011 conducted research on this matter.
The research shows that when a child rarely plays, they are at risk of experiencing depression, anxiety, and an increase in their level of narcissism. Playing is very beneficial for the mental health of teenagers. Some positive impacts of playing include the development of interests and competencies, problem-solving and discipline, emotional regulation, and increased joy.
"Allow and encourage teenagers to be relaxed and silly again. Engaging teenagers in play and fun activities will encourage them to be more relaxed and release their tension in their daily lives," said Dr. Conklin. Report by Salma Rihhadatul Aisy/ Source: Parents"
