"Dream - Taking turns playing in the playground, sharing toys, or empathizing with peers, these social skills are very much needed by children as they grow up and go to school."
"To be able to share and evoke a sense of empathy cannot be instant. According to Dr. Citra Amelinda, a pediatric specialist, the desire to share and awareness of being a social being does not just appear in a child."
"This is in line with the child's socio-emotional development. "Newborn babies see themselves as an inseparable part of their mothers. It is only when they reach toddler age, around one year old, that they become aware that they are independent individuals with sovereignty. A sense of self begins to emerge. They don’t want to be controlled, start to have a hobby of saying Noooo, and have their own territory," said Dr. Citra."
"When entering the age of one year or more, the child's personality begins to show. They will display things they like and dislike."
"Includes when someone holds or takes their belongings. The child will cry or throw a tantrum when their toys or play area are used by other children."
"At that age, according to Dr. Citra, it is important to demonstrate and show how to take turns, share snacks, or when playing with friends."
"Children need to be accustomed to being around others; there are boundaries that must be followed. "The importance of teaching boundaries to children. That living in this world is a shared experience. Whatever we do has consequences. Including taking toys that belong to other babies. A child will not suddenly become aware of life norms if they are not taught. Toddlers, especially younger toddlers, when playing together, really need to be supervised and reminded of the rules, for example, they have the right to play until they are finished," said Dr. Citra."
"Indeed, at the age of 2, a child cannot do it well because their emotional development is not yet mature."
"At the very least, children should understand the concepts of 'sharing' and 'taking turns' when playing with friends, and this will greatly influence their personality and emotional development in the future. If a child is not yet willing to share or take turns, do not immediately scold or label them as stingy, but train them again and demonstrate repeatedly until they become accustomed to it. "The best way to teach children to share is by setting an example from an early age," said Dr. Citra."
"Parents can create activities that involve turn-taking. For example, when coloring with crayons or watercolors, but using brushes or pencils alternately. Then, they can share drawing paper or canvas with each other. This can help children understand the concept of social interaction in an easier way. Source: IG @citramelinda"
