The trick from the Pediatrician so that you don't buy the wrong shoes for your little one.

Tips from a Pediatrician to Avoid Buying the Wrong Shoes for Your Little One

Dream - Children, especially those under five years old (toddlers), experience very rapid changes in body size due to the growth process. Especially in the legs, which often within a few months, the size has already increased.

This makes parents have to buy new shoes for their children so that they don't feel tight. At what age does a child actually need shoes? It turns out, starting from 11 months old or when they start to be able to walk.

"Before a baby can walk, it is best not to wear shoes so that the soles of their feet can receive sensory stimulation from the outside. Once they can walk, it is mandatory to wear good shoes that fit properly to protect their feet," said Dr. Citra Amelinda, a pediatric specialist."

"Don't buy shoes that are too big so that they can be worn for a long time, especially until they become tight because it can really affect the growth of the feet," said Dr. Citra.

Things to Consider When Buying Children's Shoes

To ensure that the shoes worn by children can support their feet well, not hinder growth and feel comfortable, there are several things to consider. Here are some tips from Dr. Citra when choosing children's shoes:

There is a distance of approximately 1 cm between the tip of the thumb and the inside of the shoe. The front part of the shoe is wider than the heel, meaning it is not pointed. The back part of the shoe is quite stiff and not easily deflated when pressed with a finger. The shoe sole material is lightweight, anti-slip, and flexible. Make sure the shoe material as a whole is soft, cool, sweat-absorbent, and comfortable. It has an easily adjustable shoe fastener to help hold the heel in place while the child is active and moving.

"At the age of 1-6 years old, the child's foot arch grows and develops very rapidly. If the child's shoes are uncomfortable and the size is not right, it can be risky," said Dr. Citra. The risks of foot problems that may arise if the child's shoes are not the right size include ingrown toenails, flat or hollow foot, and bunions, where the condition of the big toe swells. So pay close attention to your little one's shoes, Mom and Dad. Source: IG @Citra_Amelinda"
