Andien's Sad Story of Enduring an Unhealthy Relationship for 9 Months Until Her Mother's Advice Enlightened Her

Dream - Amidst the news of a reported Domestic Violence case by a celebrity, which was later retracted, singer Andien shares her dark experience in a romantic relationship. Her post went viral and became a trending topic on Twitter. 

Through her Twitter account, @andienaisyah, this jazz singer reveals her past as a victim of violence by her ex-boyfriend. 

"I've experienced an abusive relationship (not classified as domestic violence because we weren't married) with my boyfriend back then. When he hit me for the first time, I immediately broke up with him," wrote Andien.

Lulud and Accepting Her Ex-Boyfriend Back

Although she immediately ended the romantic relationship when the violence first occurred, the singer of the song 'Pulang' reveals that she had previously reconciled with her ex-boyfriend.

Andien admits that she accepted her ex-boyfriend back then because he cried and begged her not to end the relationship. What made her melt was when he confessed that he couldn't live without Andien.

Seeing the way her boyfriend behaved and his words, the woman born in 1985 melted and resumed their love affair.

However, Andien had to face a bitter reality.  

Experiencing Violence for 9 Months

Her boyfriend repeated his actions, and Andien decided to end the relationship once again. Once again, her ex-boyfriend cried and begged her not to leave, causing Andien's heart to melt once again. 

"He cried again, begged me, and I felt sorry for him... Then I melted again," she wrote.

Unbeknownst to Andien, she always melted with her ex-boyfriend's words and actions, leading them to be in a toxic relationship for nine months. 

"It was like that for 9 months, being punched, slapped, choked, and hit with a guitar hard case. Breaking up and getting back together. Apologies and melting," Andien added.

Afraid to Talk to Parents

Throughout her experience of violence from her ex-boyfriend, Andien was afraid to tell her parents about the incidents. Her heart always refused because she was worried that her parents would blame her ex-boyfriend. 

"I always hid everything because I didn't want my parents to blame my boyfriend. They would say I fell or hit something. But they knew, right? It's impossible for someone to get hit in the eyes and not have a face like a boxer," Andien added.

Enlightening Advice for Andien

Finally, Andien realized her mistake in being in an unhealthy relationship when she heard advice from her parents. At that time, Andien's mother asked about Andien's ability to change someone who had lived their own life for over 20 years.

"With the upbringing that's already ingrained in him, all his habits, all his past. Can you change all of that in a few months?" wrote Andien, who admitted that her thoughts changed after hearing the advice.

One of the advice from her mother that struck Andien was when she asked, "And she added.. 'My Andien, he's not your responsibility. It's not your responsibility to change him. That's his own responsibility. Your responsibility is yourself.'"

After realizing her mistake, Andien finally learned that the man who was her boyfriend at the time was a manipulative type. This characteristic made Andien feel responsible and like she had to be the hero in her own life.

"That he was abusive because he's 'sick' and only I can help him. Maybe it's true that he was sick. But I gotta save myself :)" she wrote.

As of Sunday, October 16, 2022, Andien's post has been retweeted 8,793 times and has received 36,000 likes from netizens.
