"Dream - The tradition of giving Lebaran Allowance (THR) to children during Eid has become an inseparable part of the Idul Fitri celebration in Indonesia."
However, this year, there is a new touch that emerges, introducing the use of barcode technology as a way to simplify the process of distributing THR.
A post on Instagram by the account @lambe_turah features a picture of a young child wearing a green shirt and carrying a small bright green bag. What caught attention is the white barcode sticker attached to the small bag, which is apparently used to receive Eid allowance.
One comment from the account @hielda09 expresses their feelings about the use of barcode to give THR. "If it's for fun, then it's funny. If it's for real, it's so embarrassiiiiing \ud83d\ude22," they wrote.
"However, there are also those who see it as something interesting and entertaining. 'This is how exciting it is to live in Indonesia 👏👏,' wrote the account @gaga_antariksa."
However, we also need to reflect on the true meaning of giving and receiving. Eid traditions are not just about money or goods, but also about the values of togetherness, sincerity, and kindness. "Teach children to give, not to ask for things... It's better to give children 1rban money to share with their own friends, in addition to receiving Eid bonuses from their older brothers/uncles," wrote the account @agungtry88.
With the variation of opinions from netizens, it seems that the use of barcodes to give THR (Eid bonus) has sparked an interesting discussion about the meaning and values contained in the tradition of Eid. Source: Instagram @lambe_turah.
