Although it has been dried for some time now, experts believe that the channel may have been used as a transportation route to carry materials and workers needed in the construction of the iconic pyramids thousands of years ago.

Research states that a series of pyramids along the western banks of the Nile River indicate the possibility of a large water channel that once crossed that region and was able to support construction projects.

"If there are pyramids everywhere in this specific area, there must be bodies of water that carry or facilitate the transportation of stones and a number of workers to these sites in the past. So we know that there are water channels, there are highways used by ancient Egyptians, but no one knows where they are."

Ghoneim utilizes radar satellite data in his research on the Nile Valley from outer space. With the radar wave's ability to penetrate the ground surface, he successfully obtains an overview of the "hidden information beneath the surface" region. The result is the discovery of a dry river channel, stretching about 100 kilometers, crossing desert and agricultural areas.

Branch Ahramat is a water channel that runs through thirty-eight pyramid locations. Now, the research team will examine soil samples from this ancient riverbed to determine if this water channel was active when the pyramids were built around 3,700 to 4,700 years ago.

Although there is no official confirmation yet, this water channel plays an important role in the pyramid construction process. Ghoneim said that most pyramids have a pathway that ends at what is called the valley temple, resembling a port or ancient harbor. Many of these temples are located right on the newly discovered Ahramat Branch.

Ghoneim stated that by following the path of ancient water channels, researchers have significant clues to discover lost ancient settlements, which will contribute significantly to a better understanding of Egypt's history and heritage.
