Dream - Jakarta every year must always be prepared to face the unexpected specter of floods. As residents living in flood-prone areas, some citizens try to adapt by taking precautions when natural disasters approach.
One of the residents of Jakarta took steps to anticipate the problem of flooding by building a raised house model. A video uploaded by the account owner @rumah.merdi shows the raised house model in Jakarta. Through the social media account, the homeowner shares their experience of deciding to build a raised house in the midst of Jakarta, which is full of skyscrapers.
The account owner revealed that his house had been flooded in Jakarta at the beginning of 2020, reaching up to the height of an adult's neck. He admitted to being tired of being haunted by floods every time it rained. Finally, the account owner decided to build a raised house that focused on the functionality of the house in order to avoid that problem. "I dared to build a raised house in the middle of the capital city. Although many disagreed because they were afraid it would look outdated. But, because I was really tired of the floods in my complex area, so I focused on the functionality of this house," he said.
The owner of the house reveals various advantages of his decision to build a raised house. Some advantages include being safe from floods, having empty space that can be utilized, and being able to contribute to the environment as a absorption area. "The most important thing is to be safe from floods, having extra space in this house, and of course, my house can contribute to the environment as an absorption area," he explained.
"All the advantages of the house cannot be obtained if the owner decides to demolish the building. 'I definitely can't get all these advantages if I decide to bury it (landslide). After being built, this house doesn't look old at all,' he added. The elevated house model also appears modern and minimalist, dominated by white and orange colored paint."
So, it doesn't look like the typical traditional stilt houses that we often see in traditional houses. Interestingly, the empty space beneath the stilt house is utilized as a garage to store cars. Report: Nisya Aprilya.
