Dream - State Secretary Minister (Mensesneg) Pratikno responded to the Supreme Court's decision that requested the General Election Commission (KPU) to revoke the age limit regulation for regional head candidates. The Supreme Court's decision has become a debate as it is considered to pave the way for President Jokowi's youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, to run in the 2024 Regional Elections.

According to Pratikno, the decision has become the authority of the judiciary, so the government should not comment. "I'm sorry, I didn't follow it, I didn't follow that issue. But of course, if it's a decision of the judiciary, the government doesn't comment on it," said Pratikno, Thursday, May 30, 2024.

In its decision, the Supreme Court stated that Article 4 paragraph (1) letter d of the General Election Commission Regulation (PKPU) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 9 Year 2020 regarding the Fourth Amendment to PKPU Number 3 Year 2017 concerning the Nomination of Governors and Deputy Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, and/or Mayors and Deputy Mayors is in conflict with the legislation Number 10 Year 2016.

MA changes the provisions of the minimum age requirement for governor candidates in the election, which was originally at least 30 years old from the date of the candidate's determination, to be counted from the date of the elected candidate's inauguration. According to MA, Article 4 of PKPU Number 9 of 2020 does not have legally binding force as long as it is not interpreted as governor candidates aged 30 years from the date of the candidate's determination.
