However, this arrest has raised questions among the public, whether Pegi, who was successfully captured, is indeed the mastermind behind the tragic incident that killed Vina and Eky. It is because Pegi has repeatedly denied involvement as the executor and mastermind of the murder case of Vina Cirebon.

In the post on August 11, 2016, Pegi wrote if she was told by her mother to go to Bandung. "I got scolded by mom because she told me to leave for Bandung today. But sorry mom, maybe tomorrow, I'm still lazy...," Pegi wrote. The next day, on August 12, 2016, Pegi updated her status saying she was on her way to Bandung. Then on August 17, 2016, she posted again saying she was currently looking for a living in another city.

"New calm face again... #myfingersaresotightREMOVE," he wrote. On that day, Pegi was suspected to still be in Bandung because his post stated that he forgot his hometown. However, on September 1, 2016, Pegi, also known as Perong, posted that he had no idea what was happening and felt dragged into the Vina Cirebon murder case."

"Oh Allah, I don't know anything about this issue... Why am I being blamed??? The test that You have given is so heavy, oh Allah!!!!," he wrote. Previously, Pegi's father, Rudi Irawan, believed that his son was not involved in the murder case of Vina Cirebon. According to him, on the day of the assault that led to the murder of two victims on August 27, 2016, Pegi was working and staying at the project dormitory in Rancamanyar, West Java."

He mentioned that Pegi lived in the dorm with about seven of his friends, including his younger brother, Robi, who also worked there. According to him, the house project was carried out for four months without any breaks and was only completed around the end of September 2016. "I am ready to be a witness, the owner of the house (project) also knows (about the case) and is ready to be a witness if asked, his friends are also ready, including Parman, Ibnu, Supri, and his brother, Robi, because they were also there in the dorm," said Rudi.

The same thing was conveyed by Bondol, Pegi Setiawan's coworker in Bandung. Bondol said, during the incident Pegi was in Bandung working on his father's construction project. "So from Cirebon, there was me (Suharsono), Pegi (Setiawan), Ibnu, Suparman, and Pegi's father," he said.
