Dream - Mining Advocacy Network (JATAM) reported Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia, to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Bahlil was reported for alleged corruption in the issuance of Mining Business License (IUP) for the period 2021-2023.
"Bahlil is reported for alleged corruption in the issuance of Mining Business License (IUP) for the period 2021-2023. 'The decision to revoke mining permits by Minister Bahlil, which is suspected to be corrupt, benefits himself, groups and others, and harms the country's economy,' said Head of Jatam Legal Division, Muhammad Jamil, as quoted from Liputan6.com, Wednesday, March 20, 2024."
Jamil said, Bahlil is suspected of engaging in corrupt behavior in the form of alleged bribery, acceptance of gratuities, or extortion. "What was reported as the crime, first of all, we are more inclined towards bribery because there was a deal, the concept of bribery or extortion has results, after the process takes place. So, bribery or extortion and gratuities, if invited by the KPK law, gratuities are also part of bribery," he said.
"In several attached evidence in the form of documents, one of them is a campaign fund donation flow from a number of corporate networks connected to Bahlil."
In addition, there is a list of root causes in the court related to the dispute over mining business permits that were revoked by Bahlil. "We recorded 128 companies within the period of 2022-2024. But the companies that were revoked (by Bahlil) won in court by almost 50 percent," he revealed.
In response to the matter, Bahlil admitted that he did not know if anyone reported it to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). "Oh, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know yet," said Bahlil when visiting the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police Headquarters on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
"At the same time, Bahlil reported a case of alleged extortion in mining business permits that implicated his name. According to him, legal efforts must be made as evidence of seriousness to clarify the circulating issue. Because, Bahlil considers that the issue has harmed his good name."
"Today, I, as a form of my seriousness, feel that my good name has been harmed. So, I request for the legal process to be carried out," said Bahlil."
He said, the legal process can be evidence of Tempo's news coverage of the alleged manipulation of the BKPM Ministry's hierarchy that used his name for mining permits. "Yesterday, the Press Council has imposed a punishment (corrected) recommended Tempo to apologize and provide a right of reply for violating article 1," he said.
"Transparently, this is a form of policy and my seriousness in proactively carrying out the process that was reported yesterday in Tempo," he added. However, Bahlil emphasized that his visit to Bareskrim Polri was not to report Tempo. Instead, he reported the party that used his name in the mining permit as the circulating issue."
"\u201cBut, I'm not complaining about the Tempo, no. I'm complaining about people who use my good name to ask for something. So, there is no misleading information. We must clarify this information,\u201d he said. Bahlil said that in the circulating information, it is not clearly stated who the person referred to is. However, according to him, it is mentioned that the person who used his name is an insider and someone close to him."
"Everything, both internally in my ministry, because based on Tempo's information there are insiders, close people, yes I asked for statements from insiders and close people. Even though the criteria for insiders and close people are also unclear," said Bahlil.
