Dream - The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) still control Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza since their attack on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Furthermore, Israeli authorities have prohibited the burial of the bodies lying at Al Shifa Hospital.
"Jenazah Menumpuk" translates to "Piling Up Corpses" in English.
According to BBC, Al Shifa Manager, Dr. Mohamed Abu Selmia, said that around 150 corpses are piling up and decomposing in the hospital area. The corpses have already decomposed and left a foul odor.
Although the conditions are sad, the Israeli authorities still have not allowed the bodies to be taken outside the hospital area for burial. Dr. Selmia mentioned that the bodies have started to be eaten by hungry stray dogs.
"Premature Baby"
The action of the Israeli soldiers also worsens the condition of patients at Al Shifa Hospital, including premature babies. Dozens of premature babies there are at risk of not being able to be kept in incubators due to power outages.
"7 Babies Died"
So far, a total of seven babies and several patients have been declared dead due to a lack of oxygen.
"Evacuation of Babies"
Dr. Selmia mentioned that RS Al Shifa has made efforts to negotiate with the Israeli authorities to evacuate the babies. However, until now, there has been no agreement.
"On the other hand, Mark Regev, senior advisor to the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, claims that Israel has offered a solution to evacuate babies from Al Shifa Hospital. However, he accuses Hamas of rejecting his proposal."
"Hundreds of Crisis Patients"
According to data held by WHO, approximately 650 patients are currently undergoing hospitalization at Al Shifa. 100 of them are in critical condition.
"For healthcare workers there, the number is around 200 to 500 people. Meanwhile, there are 1,500 Gaza residents taking shelter there."
