Dream - The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor organization calls for the establishment of an independent international investigation committee regarding the alleged theft of organs from the bodies of Palestinian citizens by Israel. The Israeli forces are known to be holding the bodies of dozens of Palestinian citizens who were killed in air strikes in the Gaza Strip since October 7th. Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor is an independent organization established in 2011 with its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. This organization has branches in the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe.

"Euro-Med Monitor voices concerns about organ theft from corpses, citing reports from medical personnel in Gaza who quickly examined several corpses after they were released. After conducting the examination, they found evidence of organ theft, such as missing cochlea, cornea, as well as other vital organs like the liver, kidneys, and heart."

Doctors in several hospitals in Gaza say that organ theft cannot be proven or denied only through forensic medical examinations, as some bodies have undergone surgical procedures before death. They explain that they cannot conduct a full analytical examination of the bodies found, considering the intensity of air and artillery attacks, as well as the surge of injured civilians. However, they have detected some signs of organ theft that may have been carried out by the Israeli military.

Euro-Med Monitor mentions that Israel has a long history related to the issue of detaining the bodies of Palestinian citizens. According to records, Israel still holds at least 145 Palestinian citizens in their morgue rooms and around 255 in the Numbers Cemetery, which is located near the Jordanian border and is not accessible to the public. The organization also notes that there are 75 individuals who have not been identified by Israel.

The remaining or deceased bodies are only marked with metal plates. According to a previous report from Euro-Med Monitor, Israeli authorities store the bodies of Palestinian citizens at temperatures below freezing point, and sometimes even below 40 degrees Celsius, to ensure that they are not disturbed and possibly to hide organ theft.

According to this human rights group, Israel recently legitimized or 'authorized' the detention of Palestinian corpses and organ theft. One of these decisions was the Israeli Supreme Court's ruling in 2019, which allowed the military authorities to temporarily bury the corpses in what is known as the "Numbers Cemetery".

Until the end of 2021, the Knesset or Israeli parliament passed laws that allow the army and police to detain the bodies of Palestinian citizens. Furthermore, in recent years, there have been reports of the illegal use of Palestinian bodies detained by Israel, including organ theft and their use in Israeli university medical laboratories.
