Dream - General Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Kaesang Pangarep, is considering running in the 2024 regional election. The youngest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) could participate in the regional election because he will reach the age of 30 in January 2024.
As conveyed by the Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU), Hasyim Asy'ari, elected regional heads in the 2024 Regional Election will be inaugurated on January 1, 2025. However, the elected governor and deputy governor must be at least 30 years old.

Based on that statement, Kaesang has fulfilled the requirements to become a gubernatorial candidate or deputy gubernatorial candidate in the 2024 Regional Election. Hasyim explained that there are three legal frameworks used by the KPU in determining regulations regarding the age limit of regional head candidates. First, Supreme Court Decision No. 23 P/HUM/2024 point 2, the Pilkada Law regarding the End of Term and Provisions on Simultaneous Inauguration.
He conveyed, decision No 23 P/HUM/2024 number 2 states: "Minimum age of 30 (thirty) years for Governor and Vice Governor candidates and 25 (twenty-five) years for Regent and Vice Regent candidates or Mayor and Vice Mayor candidates, counted from the inauguration of the elected candidate pair".
Second, provisions regarding the End of Term (EOT) of Regional Heads from the 2020 Local Elections in the Regional Election Law. In the Regional Election Law, the EOT of regional heads from the 2020 Local Elections falls in 2024. Third, the legal framework regarding simultaneous inauguration as regulated in the Regional Election Law.
