There is a hadith that conveys if one wants their faults to be covered by Allah, then do not enjoy exposing the faults of others. Because if we cover the faults of others, then Allah SWT will tightly cover our faults.

"Rasulullah SAW bersabda:" translates to "The Prophet Muhammad PBUH said:"
"O believers who have faith with their tongues but not with their hearts. Do not slander the Muslims and do not expose their faults. Whoever exposes the faults of their brother, surely Allah will expose their faults, and whoever Allah exposes their faults, surely Allah will reveal their faults, even if they are hidden in the depths of a vehicle."

"Command to Keep One's Own Secrets Confidential"

Rasulullah SAW said about the command not to expose one's own flaws to others. "Every one of my ummah is forgiven, except for those who openly commit sins. And among those who openly commit sins is someone who commits sinful acts at night, then in the morning he says, 'O so and so, yesterday I did this and that. Whereas, Allah has concealed his flaws and in the morning, he exposes what Allah has covered." (HR. Bukhari Muslim).

Prayer for Allah SWT to Conceal Our Flaws

Practicing prayer so that Allah SWT covers our faults is a practice that is a necessity for every Muslim. Everyone surely has faults, so do not expose our own faults in front of others because Allah always tightly covers our faults. Routinely recite the prayer taught by the Prophet Muhammad SAW so that Allah SWT always covers our faults. Here is the shortened version of the prayer: اللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي Translation: "O Allah, cover my faults!" (HR. Ibn Majah and Ibn Hibban)

From Abdullah bin 'Umar who heard from the Prophet Muhammad, that he always practiced this prayer every morning and evening: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي دِينِي، وَدُنْيَايَ، وَأَهْلِي، وَمَالِي، اللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي، وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِي، اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ، وَمِنْ خَلْفِي، وَعَنْ يَمِينِي، وَعَنْ شَمَالِي، وَمِنْ فَوْقِي، وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أَغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي". (صحيح ابن حبان)

Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afiyah fid dunya wal akhirah, allahumma inni as'alukal 'afwa wal 'afiyah fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allohummastur 'aurati wa amin rau\u2018ati. Allohummahfazhni min baini yadayya wa min khalfi wa 'an yamini wa 'an syimali wa min fawqi. Wa a'udzu bi 'azhamatika an ughtala min tahti. Translation: O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religion, worldly affairs, family, and wealth. O Allah, cover my nakedness and protect my secrets. O Allah, protect me from in front of me, from behind me, from my right and my left, and from above me. And I seek refuge in Your greatness from being taken unaware from beneath me.

"O Allah, I seek safety in this world and the hereafter from You. I seek forgiveness and protection for my religion, this world, my family, and my wealth. Close all my deficiencies, calm my heart, protect me from the front, back, right, left, and above. I seek refuge in You from unexpected calamities.""

"How to Hide Shame in Islam"

In Islam, concealing someone's flaws or shortcomings is a recommended virtue. Here are some ways to conceal flaws in Islam: 1. Using the Trait of Tawadhu' (Humility)Showing humility and not being arrogant will help in respecting the privacy and dignity of individuals. 2. Keeping Other People's SecretsNot divulging other people's secrets is a sign of respect for privacy and is an honorable action.

3. Not Mentioning Others' Faults Avoid bringing up or talking about others' faults. The Prophet Muhammad taught us not to interfere in other people's personal matters. 4. Giving Good and Confidential Advice If it is necessary to give advice regarding someone's faults, do it with caution, politeness, and privately without offending their dignity. 5. Thinking Positively about Others Providing benefit from doubts or misunderstandings about others is a step towards maintaining good relationships.

6. Practicing Kindness (Ihsan) Doing good to others without expecting anything in return can help strengthen the bond of trust. 7. Speaking Kindly and Wisely Avoid using harsh words or criticizing in a hurtful tone. Speaking wisely will help maintain someone's dignity. 8. Repenting for Mistakes If we have previously exposed someone's faults, repent to Allah and strive to correct those mistakes.

Hiding one's flaws is a form of virtue recognized in Islam. By doing so, we can build strong relationships, respect others' privacy, and draw closer to Allah through commendable behavior.
