Dream - The earthquake that struck Sumedang, West Java three times on December 31, 2024 caused several buildings to suffer damage. One of the reported cracks is the Cisumdawu toll road.
Regarding this matter, Minister of Public Works and People's Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono revealed that the condition is not a dangerous crack. The tunnel on the toll road remains safe to pass through.
"It's not a crack. It's building it segmentally, those segments, so the connections," said Basuk in Banyumas, Central Java, on January 1, 2024, in the afternoon, as quoted from Merdeka.com.
According to him, because there was an earthquake, the community paid attention to the connections in the tunnel. If there were no earthquakes, it is possible that the community would not pay attention to it. Basuki revealed that the condition of the tunnel is still safe. "But it is safe to pass through, still safe to pass through," said Basuki.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Hedy Rahadian, said that the most critical point in the tunnel is located at the portal or entrance. He acknowledged the viral news stating that the Cisumdawu Toll Tunnel cracked due to the Sumedang earthquake.
"We checked, it's not cracked. It's an accumulation of flying dust that gathered there because the joint is not perfectly smooth," he said.
Hedy explained that currently their team is conducting further investigations to determine if there are any dangerous cracks. This includes other locations that have shown cracks after the earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8.
"We will report once there are results," said Hedy."
