"Dream - Haid or menstruation is a part of a woman's nature. Quoted from halodoc.com, menstruation is the discharge of blood from the vagina that occurs as a result of the monthly cycle. In Islam itself, haid is classified as a major impurity. Therefore, women who are currently experiencing menstruation are prohibited from performing certain religious rituals. However, once the menstruation has stopped, it is mandatory for them to perform janabat bathing to cleanse themselves from the major impurity."
Well, for Dream friends who are experiencing menstruation for the first time, besides needing to know how to clean themselves properly and what prayers should not be done, they also need to know the prayer.
Prayer for women who have just started their first period, this prayer comes from Sayyidah Aisyah. Although the nature of the prayer is general for women who have their period, it is very good to be read by women who have just started their first period. Here is the prayer as summarized by Dream through various sources.
Prayer for women who have just started menstruating comes from Sayyidah Aisyah, as quoted by Syekh As-Shafuri in the book Nuzhatul Majalis:
"Sayyidah Aisyah ra said, 'There is no woman who, when experiencing menstruation, except that her menstruation can become an expiation for her past sins. If she prays during menstruation: الحمد لله على كل حالٍ وأستغفر الله من كل ذنبٍ Alhamdulillahi 'ala kulli halin wastaghfirullaha min kulli dzambin. All praise be to Allah in every condition, and I seek forgiveness from Allah for every sin,' then she will be recorded as being saved from the fire of Hell, safely crossing the bridge (shirath), and protected from punishment." (As-Shafuri, Nuzhatul Majalis, [Beirut, Darul Kutub 'Ilmiyyah], page 294)
For a Muslim woman who has experienced menstruation, it is important to know what worship activities are not allowed during menstruation and postpartum bleeding.
The first worship that is not allowed to be done by women who are menstruating and in postpartum bleeding is prayer. Therefore, during the period of menstruation and postpartum bleeding, the woman is exempted from the obligation to perform prayer and does not need to make up for the missed prayers. When the menstrual or postpartum bleeding has stopped, it is necessary to immediately perform the obligatory bath and resume performing the worship of prayer.
The following is the translation of the given 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "The worship that is also not allowed to be done by women who are menstruating and postpartum is fasting. They are prohibited from observing fasting until they are pure again. However, once they are pure, then it is obligatory for the woman to replace the obligatory fasting worship according to the number of days that she missed fasting."
Other worship that Muslim women are not allowed to do during menstruation is reading the Al-Quran. If Dream's friend wants to recite the Al-Quran, then intend to do it as remembrance. Because in Islam, menstruating women still have the opportunity to gain rewards by engaging in remembrance.
Women who are menstruating are also prohibited from holding and carrying the mushaf. According to the Shafi'i school of thought, this prohibition also applies to individuals who are experiencing minor impurity. Therefore, when intending to hold and carry the mushaf, one must be in a state of purity, free from major and minor impurities.
Remaining silent in the mosque is also prohibited for Muslim women who are menstruating and postpartum. It is also explained in Al-Fiqhul Manhaji 'ala Madzhabil Imamis Syafi'i that it is forbidden to pass through the mosque if there is a concern that the blood will eventually drip in the mosque area.
Rasulullah (peace be upon him) once said that the condition for the purity of Tawaf is similar to that of prayer. This is narrated by Imam Al-Hakim, he (peace be upon him) said: 'Tawaf around the Kaaba is (similar to) prayer, except that Allah allows speaking during Tawaf. Whoever speaks (during Tawaf), should say good things.'
Islam teaches that women who are menstruating and in postpartum bleeding are prohibited from having sexual intercourse or only allowed to have physical contact between the navel and knees. This prohibition applies until the menstruation and postpartum bleeding are finished. As explained in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 222: "They ask you about menstruation. Say, 'It is an inconvenience.' So keep away from women during menstruation and do not approach them until they are pure. And when they have purified themselves, then come to them from where Allah has ordained for you..."
Through repentance, Muslims will be kept away from the torment of the grave and the hellfire in the hereafter.
