Dream - Postponing the payment of fasting debt in Ramadan without any obstacles is something that is strongly prohibited in Islam. Intentionally delaying the payment of fasting debt in Ramadan is considered a very bad sin. Because one of the characteristics of a believer is to hasten in doing good deeds and fulfilling religious obligations. Meanwhile, postponing the payment of fasting debt means delaying the fulfillment of religious obligations.
"(Quran Surah Al-Mu'minun verse 61)."
"(HR. Bukhari and Muslim)"
According to Ustad Fadly Gugul, who is part of the Islamic Guidance Institution, he stated in one of his lectures that the deadline for making up missed Ramadan fasts is until the end of Syaban or before the arrival of the next Ramadan. If someone delays making up their qadha Ramadan fasts until the following Ramadan due to legitimate reasons, it is permissible and there is no sin for them at that time.
Meanwhile, for those who delay making up for missed fasts of Ramadan until the next Ramadan without any obstacles, scholars have differing opinions on how to replace them. There are two opinions that will be discussed in this article regarding this issue.
It is mandatory to repent and make up for the number of missed days. After that, pay a fine in the form of feeding the poor for the number of days that he ended his qadha.
From Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu 'anhu, he said to a man who was sick in the month of Ramadhan. Then he recovered but did not fast until the next Ramadhan came. Abu Hurairah said to the man, 'He should fast the day he missed in Ramadhan and feed one mud of wheat to each poor person from the beginning of each day. After he has finished this, then he can make up for his missed fasts." (Narrated by Daruquthni)
The second opinion is that one must repent and make up for it without any penalty. This second opinion is mostly followed by scholars and the majority of Muslims. This is because there is no narration of a hadith that commands to pay expiation or penalty for delaying the qadha of Ramadan fasting.
When Syekh Al-Akbani rahimahullah was asked about the obligation of expiation for someone who delays qadha until the next Ramadan, he replied: Some people hold this opinion, but there is no marfu hadith that supports it. (Al-Mausu'ah Al-Fiqhiyah Al-Muyassarah)
With this, if Sahabat Dream postpones paying off the debt of fasting in Ramadan until the next Ramadan comes, then you must repent to Allah SWT and promise not to repeat it again, then make up for the fast on another day without additional expiation or penalty. However, if you feel unsatisfied, then you can pay the recommended expiation as done by some of the companions of the Prophet.
