Dream - Sunnah prayer is highly recommended for every Muslim. In addition to performing obligatory prayers, performing sunnah prayers will complement and increase the rewards for Dream friends who regularly perform them. Islam teaches many sunnah prayer practices that Dream friends can do every day. One of the frequently recommended ones is tahajud prayer and hajat prayer. Tahajud prayer, which is performed in the last third of the night, holds a prominent position in the matter of voluntary worship. It is during this moment that Dream friends' prayers are more likely to be answered by Allah SWT. Meanwhile, hajat prayer is recommended to be performed when you have a need or desire.
Just like tahajjud, the best time to perform the prayer of need (sholat hajat) is at the last third of the night. When our friend Dream wants to perform both of these voluntary prayers, which one should be prioritized? Should tahajjud prayer be performed first or the prayer of need?
The following is an explanation as summarized by Dream from various sources.
Tahajud itself comes from the word 'tahajjada' which means staying awake at night, staying up at night.
So, tahajud prayer is a highly recommended voluntary prayer that is performed at night or in the early hours of the morning or one-third of the night after waking up from sleep. The recommendation for tahajud prayer is also explained in the Quran through Surah Al-Isra verse 79: "And during a portion of the night, pray tahajud as an additional act of worship for you, hoping that your Lord will elevate you to a praised position."
Meanwhile, hajat prayer is a voluntary prayer performed by Muslims when they desire their needs to be granted by Allah SWT. As the Prophet Muhammad said: "Whoever has a need (requirement) to Allah or to one of the children of Adam, let him perform ablution and complete his ablution, pray two rak'ahs, then let him praise Allah and send blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad, then let him pray." (HR. Tiridzi and Ibnu Majah)
Night prayer (tahajud) and prayer of need (hajat) are recommended to be performed during the last third of the night. So, which one should be prioritized? Night prayer (tahajud) or prayer of need (hajat) first?
If friend Dream performs the prayer of need (sholat hajat) in the third of the night along with the night prayer (sholat tahajud), then perform the night prayer (sholat tahajud) first. Only then perform the prayer of need (sholat hajat) which consists of 2 to 12 rakaats. In each rakaat of the prayer of need (sholat hajat), you can recite Surah Al-Fatihah, Ayatul Kursi, and Surah Al-Ikhlas. However, if friend Dream performs the prayer of need (sholat hajat) during the day, then you can do it directly without performing the night prayer (sholat tahajud) first. Because the night prayer (sholat tahajud) can only be performed at night.
"For Dream friends who want to perform the Tahajjud prayer and the Hajat prayer, here is the recitation of the intention:"
أُصَلِّي سُنَّةَ التَّهَجُّدِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى
Translation: "I intentionally perform the sunnah prayer of tahajjud, two units, for the sake of Allah SWT."
I intend to pray the Sunnah of Hajat, two units, for the sake of Allah the Almighty.
