The tense moment was recorded by one of the passengers of flight number 516. The video was taken moments before the passengers were evacuated. The passengers can be seen in a state of panic. In the recording circulating on social media X, or previously known as Twitter, the screams of many passengers can be heard.

"I thought I was going to die," wrote one of the individuals who uploaded the video from inside the plane, as quoted from Newsweek.com. The cabin was already engulfed in thick smoke. In a viral recording from X, it can be seen standing in the aisle, trying to calm the passengers before they were evacuated."

"I saw sparks outside the window and the cabin filled with gas and smoke," said the passenger. Swede Anton Deibe (17), a passenger of Japan Airlines, also recounted the chaos inside the Airbus A350 cabin."

"The entire cabin was filled with smoke within minutes. The smoke in the cabin was very suffocating. It was truly hell," he said, quoted from BBC. According to Swede Anton Deibe, the passengers immediately ran to the emergency door as soon as it was opened. They immediately jumped as the slide inflated."

"We don't know where we will go, so we immediately ran to the field. Chaos ensued," he added. Swede Anton Deibe, along with his parents and sister, managed to escape from the burning plane without injuries."

The aircraft flew to Haneda Airport from New Chitose Sapporo Airport, northern Japan, at 17:47 local time. Fortunately, all 379 passengers and crew were evacuated without life-threatening injuries.
