Dream - Muslims in the month of Ramadan not only carry out the obligatory fasting, but also take the opportunity to strengthen the bond of kinship with relatives and friends. One form of effort to strengthen the bond of kinship during Ramadan is often realized by holding iftar events together, or more popularly known as "bukber".
Although it is only a tradition, breaking the fast together is an appropriate means to foster togetherness. In fact, because of the importance of maintaining relationships in the iftar event, some participants are willing to come from afar. Not only from different districts within one city, but some participants even come from outside the province.
Like the story of a Malaysian man who uploaded a video on TikTok account @kedaialai98. The man was willing to travel hundreds of kilometers just to gather with his friends at the bukber event.
"He covered hundreds of kilometers starting from his home in Kedah, passing through Penang, and ending in Kuala Lumpur. Besides himself, who is from Kedah, his friends from Pahang and Perak also attended the bukber event in Kuala Lumpur. 'PoV: When friends are willing to come from afar just to have sahur and iftar together,' he wrote in the video."
In the video, the man can be seen uploading his WhatsApp chat with a friend who invited him to have suhoor and iftar together. He admitted that he might depart by bus because it would be more expensive to bring his own vehicle. The man also invited his friends to hang out all day from suhoor until iftar in the evening.
In short, they arrived in Kuala Lumpur and went straight to the reserved restaurant. The man was seen taking pictures of various dishes that had been prepared on the table. The dishes were so appetizing and their prices were surely very expensive.
However, the man said that friendship with his friends is much more valuable than the food ordered.
"The food must be expensive, right? No, it's not. What's more expensive is when friends are willing to come down from Kuantan for both suhoor and iftar," he said. The distance from Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur is indeed very far. The journey can cover a distance of up to 252.4 kilometers. According to him, during the suhoor and iftar moments, it's not the expensive food that matters, but the presence of friends who come from Kuantan."
They are willing to travel hundreds of kilometers for a memory. Because, gathering with friends is not easy to do.
"He also greatly appreciates the sincerity of his friends who came together even for a brief moment. Although his friends came from afar. It is unimaginable how tired they are just from meeting for one day."
After breaking the fast together at dawn, in the afternoon the man held a session of iftar tour with his friends around the Klang Valley. He even took a photo together with friends from Penang who joined later.
According to him, gathering with friends while strolling during this Ramadan truly leaves a beautiful memory for him. He also gained valuable lessons from the sahur and iftar events with his friends. "Money can be earned, but the joy and hardships of being with friends are difficult to obtain," he concluded.
Out of the 13 people who came, five of them were seen taking a photo together with the couple.
