World Bank Warns Free Lunch Program Will Create Deficit in State Budget, Here's Gibran's Response

Dream - Head of the World Bank's Representative Office for Indonesia and Timor Leste, Satu Kahkonen, highlights the free lunch program of Prabowo-Gibran in the 2024 Presidential Election.

The program is planned to be included in the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) for the year 2025. In response to that, Gibran said that the free lunch program has gone through lengthy discussions and discussions.

However, President Joko Widodo's son (Jokowi) is reluctant to reveal the technical details of the program. This is because, currently, he and Prabowo Subianto have not been inaugurated as president and vice president.

Kahkonen also reminded the Indonesian government to be cautious of the fiscal budget deficit limit from the State Budget (APBN) if the program is implemented. According to him, the fiscal deficit should not exceed the limit set by the Law, which is 3 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
