Dream - Dubai will build the world's first semi-floating underwater mosque. The project is estimated to cost around Dhs 55 million or approximately Rp 230 billion.
That was conveyed by the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities (IACAD) Dubai on Thursday, September 21, 2023, when conducting a briefing on the religious tourism project. Executive Director of Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Khalfan Al Mansoori, mentioned during his press conference that the construction will begin as soon as possible.
It will be very close to the beach... Worshipers will be able to walk through a bridge connected to the mainland,
This project is expected to increase annual visits by Muslims and non-Muslims to the Emirates by 3-4 percent. Al Mansoori emphasized that this mosque is open to everyone, but visitors are required to dress modestly.
"The visitors of the floating mosque must dress modestly and must adhere to the traditions and customs of Islam," he said.
Later, this floating-underwater mosque will consist of three floors. The first floor will be underwater and used as a place for prayer with a capacity of 75 worshipers.
Then, the second floor will be used as a multipurpose building, while the third floor will be an exhibition about Islam. The construction of the mosque is scheduled to be completed in 2024.
"Previously, Dubai will also build the world's first fully 3D-printed mosque. This mosque, with an area of 2,000 square meters, will be opened in 2025 and able to accommodate 600 worshipers."
Located in Bur Dubai, the construction of this 2,000 square meter mosque will begin in October 2023. As reported by Arabian Business, the mosque structure, which will be built using 3D printing technology, will take approximately four months, plus an additional 12 months to complete the facilities inside.
