Dream - Traveling to Japan, of course, there are many things to enjoy. For those who love technology, they can visit many spots to see Japanese high-tech products.
"For those who love culinary, Japan has a wide selection of authentic dishes that are highly favored by tourists. Not to mention the beauty of nature and shopping destinations. Have you ever thought about architectural tourism?"
In Japan, it is currently very popular for tourists to visit the Shibuya Tokyo area to see public toilet buildings. Yes, toilets! Oh, don't imagine dirty, filthy, dark, and unpleasant public toilets. The toilets scattered in Shibuya have unique and characterful designs, made by renowned Japanese architects. The interior is also super clean because it is well-maintained.
A total of 17 public toilets have been redesigned by leading architects under The Tokyo Toilet project, transforming often neglected spaces into safer and more stylish buildings.
"Many people who participate in this tour are interested in architecture," said Yumiko Nishi, PR manager of the tourism association in the area, which organizes tours using shuttle minivans.
According to Nishi, this tour is still in its early stages, but interest from foreign visitors has started to increase. Hopefully, it will become more popular. The architects involved in this project include Kengo Kuma, who is famous for the National Stadium used for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics in the summer of 2021, and Toyo Ito, the winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, famous for many projects including the National Taichung Theater in Taiwan.
The shape of the toilet building is indeed very interesting. For example, "Three Mushrooms" designed by Toyo Ito. It is made to resemble mushrooms that grow from the forest around Yoyogi-Hachiman shrine, at the bottom of its location.
There are also toilets that are shaped like white balls. They have a mechanism that takes in air from outside, circulates it inside the room, and then expels it back outside so that the air inside the toilet is always fresh.
The unique all-white toilet was designed by Kazoo Sato and the architecture firm Tim Lab Dizsruption. THE TOKYO TOILET project was created by the non-profit Nippon Foundation and Koji Yanai, an executive at Fast Retailing Co., the operator of the Uniqlo clothing network. For the toilet tour package, it is divided into two parts - the east and west routes - and held simultaneously on Thursdays and Saturdays starting at 10:00 and 14:00.
he translation of the given 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving the HTML tags is as follows: The price of the package is around $4,950 ($32 or Rp507 thousand) per person. This event lasts for about two hours. Interested in joining the tour? Source: Japantimes.co.j
