To be able to reach this island - the way to get to Cheung Chau directly from Hong Kong - you can take a ferry from Central Pier, located in Central, Hong Kong.

The cost of taking a ferry ranges from HK$15-28 (around Rp31-50 thousand), depending on the type of ferry chosen. On weekends, the price increases to HK$38 or around Rp 80 thousand for a single crossing with a Fast Ferry. The journey to Cheung Chau takes about 30 minutes. The ferry operates from 06:00-01:00 local time.

There are only government-owned vehicles allowed, such as police cars, fire trucks, and hospital ambulances. Even so, their size is small due to the narrow roads in Cheung Chau.

"Cheung Chau Cinema was closed in 1997. However, after going through a long planning process, the first stage of its renovation is finally completed."

Although it has been closed for 26 years or nearly two decades, this historic cinema on Cheung Chau Island will finally reopen with a new face on August 21 last year. Cheung Chau Cinema is one of the well-preserved pre-war cinemas in Hong Kong. Established in the 1930s along with Yau Ma Tei Theatre, both places are registered as Grade III Historical Buildings.

In here, you can still find the original traces of Cheung Chau Cinema that have been restored on a land area of over 38,000 square meters. It's really cool. This cinematic themed tourist attraction to the past is divided into four main parts and is part of the cultural park. Starting from Cheung Chau Cultural Centre, 1931 Studio, Screen Theatre, and Dumbbell Information Centre.

One of the interesting things is 1931 Studios with a classic Hong Kong telephone theme, which has become a favorite photo spot on Instagram. Inside, there is a 90s cinema-themed room and a film shooting set of popular Hong Kong films starring their famous actors such as Stephen Chow and Chow Yun-fat. There are also several posters of legendary Hong Kong films, starting from Hail the Judge starring Stephen Chow and God of Gamblers where Chow Yun-fat played the lead role.

Cheung Chau Cinema also holds outdoor film watching experiences. Visitors can enjoy music performances or local films in a picnic atmosphere. While enjoying the available entertainment, visitors can also indulge in food and snacks sold at nearby stalls. From there, we continue to stop by Martin Kwok's bakpao shop. This shop is open every day and has been selling its products for 40 years.
