"Similarly, the recommended makeup sponge should also be soaked in a mixture of warm water and soap. Also, choose a soap that will be used to wash brushes and sponges to avoid causing acne."

Choose the Right Soap

Dinda suggests using facial wash that is not used to clean brushes, sponges, and other makeup tools. Avoid using soap that is not intended for the face to prevent potential acne or other skin problems. "Please don't use laundry soap or similar products. At most, use gentle baby soap on your skin or facial wash that is not used. Sometimes acne and skin problems can also arise from small things like this," said Dinda.

Use Cleaner Pad

Use a cleaner pad to clean the brush thoroughly. Apply a little soap on it and scrub the brush until the inside and outside are clean. Make sure the base and handle of the brush are not exposed to water or soap to prevent your brush from getting easily damaged.

Clean the brush with a cleaning pad repeatedly until the water used for rinsing appears clean without stains. Continue cleaning the brush if there are still residual makeup stains such as foundation, blush, contour, or eyeshadow in the water used for rinsing the soap. Meanwhile, the sponge only needs to be rubbed on the palm using the same soap.

"Dry the Brush"

After cleaning, do not squeeze the brush bristles too hard to prevent them from falling out easily. Do it gently to remove excess water. Then, place the brush on a towel and let it dry all day.
