Dream - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has started implementing face recognition scanning for every passenger who will board. The use of Face Recognition Boarding Gate was first implemented at Bandung Station on September 28, 2022. Currently, the Face Recognition Boarding Gate is available at nine KAI stations, namely Bandung Station, Yogyakarta, Surabaya Gubeng, Malang, Solo Balapan, Gambir, Cirebon, Surabaya Pasar Turi, and Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng.

This system requires prospective passengers to register personal identity data in accordance with their ID cards in order to obtain tickets. EVP of Corporate Secretary KAI Raden Agus Dwinanto Budiadji ensures the security of passenger data, which will not leak or be distributed.

Agus explained that customer data in the form of name, NIK (National Identification Number), and photo will be stored in KAI's infrastructure and only used for the boarding process using Face Recognition Boarding Gate. The data will only be stored for one year and will be automatically deleted by the system.

Passengers are entitled to use Data Deletion.

Passengers also have the right to request the deletion of personal data if necessary after registering through the Access by KAI application or by submitting a data deletion request to KAI through Customer Service officers at the station.

"Registration Process"

The registration process for Face Recognition can be done either through the Access by KAI application or at the station. To register for Face Recognition at the station, it can be done at the Check-in Counter (CIC) machine or through special service officers at the station.

The registration process cannot be represented, simply bring your e-KTP and the registration process can be done directly by attaching the e-KTP to the Reader device and then placing your right or left index finger on the scanner on the e-KTP reader. For customers who cannot register because they do not have an e-KTP, such as child customers or those whose e-KTP is damaged, there is no need to worry, the registration process can also be done through available service officers.

"Valid for 1 Year"

Registration is only required once and is valid for 1 year and can be used at all stations that already have Face Recognition Boarding Gate facilities. If registration has been completed, customers no longer need to print a boarding pass. Customers can go directly to the Face Recognition Boarding Gate if boarding time is available.

"How to Scan Face"

Direct your face towards the scanner machine and if the ticket data, identity, and other requirements are already correct, then the gate will automatically open. The process of scanning customer's face and verifying all the data stored in the KAI system is very fast, so it will greatly facilitate customers and streamline the queue during the boarding process.
