Thanks to its commitment in contributing to the homeland through various innovations, recently PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk. (BSI) won the "Innovation for the Nation" award at the Merdeka Award 2023 event. There are three programs that were evaluated by the jury team, including the Innovative Economic Independence Program, the Innovative Public Service Program, and the Innovative Digitalization Support Program.

Next, collaboration and synergy programs with the Bangun Sejahtera Mitra Umat Zakat Amil Institution (LAZ BSMU), through the Micro Waqf Bank Program (BWM) for the goat and sheep breeding business cluster. This program is carried out with the aim of empowering the economy of the community around the pesantren through micro financial facilities, as well as increasing sharia financial inclusion.

Finally, BSI also provides training for UMKM Go Digital BSI which not only focuses on internal development but also helps external parties to improve digitalization so that UMKM can compete not only in the local realm but also at the national and global level. One of them is the UMKM Go Digital training program in collaboration with Shopee.

One of them is through the launch of four features in the BSI Mobile application that help people in their daily lives. First, the biometric face recognition feature that allows people to open a bank account without having to come to the bank. Second, the ZISWAF feature (Zakat, Infaq, Sodaqoh, and Wakaf) that enables people to pay online and makes BSI Mobile a one-stop financial solution, not only providing banking transaction features but also as a social companion.

Third, the mosque checking feature and the qibla direction also provide convenience for customers who want to fulfill their prayer obligations. Fourth, it is a payment feature through BSI Mobile that facilitates the public in conducting various financial transactions in a safe and fast shariah manner.

Not only that, BSI also implements a digitalization strategy by developing various innovations. This can be seen from BSI's seriousness in strengthening its digital security by doubling its IT Capex allocation in 2023 to Rp580 billion or twice as much as the previous year. The budget is intended for digitalization and data security strengthening of BSI. This is because digitalization is something that cannot be avoided. The entire capex budget will be used for the IT and digital sector, especially prioritized for data security and banking services.
