Dream - The impact of the Zionist Israeli government's invasion of Palestine has sparked a global reaction that encourages the boycott of products from the newly formed country in 1948. The country that annexed Palestinian land apparently exports many of its products to various countries around the world. Not only technology products, but Israel also exports many agricultural products that only grow in the Middle East region. Israel is known as one of the producers of dates that have exported their products to various countries.
With the existence of a boycott action, these dates from Israel are included as one of the products from Israel to be boycotted. Israeli dates have targeted the global market. In fact, Israel is recorded as the fifth largest exporter of dates in the world after Iran in 2020.
Israel is known to export 140,300 tons of dates that year. Quoting Aljazeera data, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) recorded that in 2017, Israel produced 136,956 tons of dates with an export value of US$181.2 million or approximately IDR 2.85 trillion.
Then in 2021, according to Statista data, Israel had an export value of US$317 million or around Rp4.99 trillion in that year. The main buyers of Israeli dates are Turkey, the Netherlands, Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Italy.
However, the success of the date industry is actually due to the influence of Palestine. The majority of their date exporters operate in illegal settlements. In fact, around 40 percent of Israel's dates are currently grown on stolen Palestinian land.
Indonesia has also conducted import transactions with Israel. Quoting from merdeka.com news a few years ago, the Ministry of Trade recorded that the total trade between Indonesia and Israel reached US$124.1 million in 2007 and increased to US$116.4 million in 2008.
Then in 2009, the total trade with Israel reached US$91.61 million and increased again to US$117.5 million in 2010.
The following 'Bahasa' text translated to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "Data from 2011 shows a decrease, the total trade between Indonesia and Israel reached US$69.6 million. Then, by mid-2012, it experienced an increase again, reaching US$79 million."
In the data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), it was recorded in June 2012 that Indonesia imported 20.6 tons of dates from Israel, with a trade value of US$191,300.
