Dream - The new king of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, is known as a wealthy king. He is known to have 300 luxury cars and other assets. It is even believed that one of his cars was a gift from Adolf Hitler. So, what was his occupation before becoming the king of Malaysia?
"Business Sultan Ibrahim"
Sultan Ibrahim is a businessman who invests in the private sector and real estate.
"He is also said to have a quarter of the shares in U Mobile, the largest provider in Malaysia."
In addition, he is also believed to own 40 percent of shares in an oil and gas company in Johor, Maharani Energy Gateway.
Quoting Merdeka.com, this business spirit even flows within his family. The eldest son of Sultan Ibrahim, Prince Johor Tunku Ismail, owns a football club business called Johor Darul Ta'zim.
The wealth of this royal family also extends to Singapore. Sultan Ibrahim is reported to have land as well as a city forest in Singapore worth US$4 billion or equivalent to Rp63 trillion.
The land is located in the most strategic place on the coast of Singapore. Like a private island, the development of Sultan Ibrahim complex in Singapore is estimated to cost around US$100 billion or equivalent to Rp1.574 trillion.
In a recent interview with The Straits Times, the king revealed plans to personally restore the high-speed railway line between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. This project was previously led by the governments of Malaysia and Singapore but was halted in 2021 due to high costs. According to Bloomberg, the estimated cost is 100 billion Ringgit, or approximately US$21.2 billion or Rp333 billion.
