Dream - Director of Extension, Services, and Public Relations of the Directorate General of Taxes, Ministry of Finance, Dwi Astuti, said that for individuals who do not match their Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) with their Population Identification Number (NIK), they may potentially face obstacles in accessing tax services.
The Government through the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) does require the NIK to be matched with the NPWP no later than June 30, 2024.
The policy is stated in the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 136 of 2023 concerning Amendments to PMK Number 112/PMK.03/2022 concerning Personal Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP), Corporate Taxpayer, and Government Institution Taxpayer.
Matching NIK only applies to individuals who already have an NPWP, but if they do not have an NPWP yet and wish to register, then the NPWP will automatically be registered under the NIK.
As for the obstacles that taxpayers will encounter, one of them is during the full implementation of the Core Tax Administration System (SIAP) or core tax.
