"Dream - The government has raised the entertainment tax from 25% to 40% up to 75%. This policy is outlined in Law No. 1 of 2022 concerning Financial Relations between the Central Government and Regional Governments. Referring to Article 58 paragraph 2, specifically the rate of Certain Goods and Services Tax (PBJT) on entertainment services at discotheques, karaoke, nightclubs, bars, and steam baths or spas is set at a minimum of 40% and a maximum of 75%."
The translation of "Inul Daratista Protes" to English is "Inul Daratista Protests."
The new regulation has been complained about by business actors who feel it could impact their business, potentially leading to employee reductions, including Inul Daratista, a singer and owner of the karaoke house Inul Vizta.
"Inul admitted that she will lay off 5,000 of her employees at Inul Vizta if the entertainment tax increase is implemented. 'I want to showcase my business that is going to have its tax raised from 25 percent to 40-75 percent. If it really happens, 5,000 of my employees will be done + along with my fellow karaoke business owners, there will be mass layoffs,' wrote Inul in a TikTok post @inul.daratista."
The singer of the song 'Masa Lalu' expressed her disappointment towards the Government. In fact, Inul believes that the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, wants to shut down the entertainment sector. "On purpose, Minister Sandiaga intends to kill many people so they can't eat!!! Mr. President Mr. Jokowi, please take a look at my shout, I’m waiting for good news if it could even lower the taxes, but instead, they are raised," said Inul.
"Inul then showed the current condition of one of the Inul Vizta karaoke branches at Poins Square, in the Lebak Bulus area, South Jakarta. The karaoke place looks empty, even though it is Saturday, which is a weekend. "Can we see the condition now? It's quiet, and there aren't many guests. The tax here is already 25 percent," said Inul."
"Inul also invites her employees to express their opinions. Her employees assess that with the current 25 percent entertainment tax, guests often complain. "With 25 percent, there are already many guests complaining; how will it be when the tax increases? We will definitely receive even more complaints," said one employee of Karaoke Inul Vizta Poins Square."
"Inul told a story that in one Inul Vizta outlet there used to be 50 employees. However, now it has been reduced to 40 employees per outlet. 'Now my employees here (Inul Vizta Poins Square) have decreased again to only 35 (people),' added Inul. According to this singer from Pasuruan, East Java, if the tax is raised to 75 percent, several of her karaoke outlets will go out of business because they cannot afford to pay the high taxes."
"Out of all the outlets, I have a lot of employees, if I finish it because the taxes are too high I can't pay. It's not just me, maybe other karaoke friends have the same fate as me," he said."
"Inul asks the Government to review Law (UU) Number 1 of 2022 concerning Financial Relations between the Central Government and Regional Governments (HKPD). "So Mr. Minister and Jokowi, please review this law again. Because when taxes are raised, many people can no longer work. Please Mr. Sandiaga Uno, I'm waiting for your coffee so we won't be restless," said Inul."
