"Dream - A man from Brazil tragically died after 'diving' into a well he had dug in his kitchen. He was João Pimenta da Silva, 71 years old, who entered the well after dreaming that there was gold buried deep beneath his house. This well was dug by João and his neighbor in Ipatinga, a city in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil."

"Before entering the well, he told his dream about the treasure to his neighbor. And all he needed to do was dig. According to Antôni Costa, the neighbor who helped João Pimenta da Silva dig, the old man was trying to remove the water and mud at the bottom of the well when he fell into the hole. They had lowered a pump into the hole and managed to get out several buckets of water, but João wanted to go down into the hole to check something."

"When Antônio lowered it into the well, the would-be treasure hunter asked him to pull it back up. But as he started to rise, somehow João slipped from the device that resembled a swing and his arm got tangled in the swing's rope. 'I tried to hold him, alone, there was no way to ask for help,' Antônio told the police."

The fire department personnel called to the scene found João Pimenta da Silva already deceased at the bottom of a deep well. João suffered from polytrauma, open fractures in both legs, a broken hip, lacerations to the abdomen, extensive abrasions, and there were no signs of life.

"After examining the deep hole, the investigators were astonished by how the old man managed to dig such a deep well with a stable and almost perfect structure. The neighbors stated that the retiree had experience in digging wells, but considering its extreme depth - equivalent to a 13-story building, he must have needed advanced equipment to carry out such excavation."
