Dream - PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN continues to make new breakthroughs in the development of electric vehicles in the country. The state-owned electricity company has transformed the electric poles they manage into Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU), namely PLN EYE pole-mounted charger SPKLU. Currently, PLN is still the largest electricity provider for residential customers in Indonesia. Although there are private power plants, most of them are used to supply the electricity needs of companies.

With this innovation, PLN has also supported the acceleration of the electric vehicle or EV ecosystem in Indonesia. Since the government rolled it out a few years ago, the presence of electric cars and motorcycles has been growing and becoming popular among the community. Compared to conventional cars or motorcycles, electric vehicles are considered advantageous because they are cost-effective in terms of maintenance and significantly reduce carbon emissions.

The President Director of PLN Engineering, Chairani Rachmatullah, detailed that there are currently three prototypes of PLN EYE SPKLU installed and operational. These prototypes can already be used in two locations at PLN KS Tubun Office in West Jakarta, and one at Yasporbi Bidakara Elementary School in South Jakarta.

"Next, an assessment and improvement will be conducted so that in the future it will already be standardized for all Pole Mounted Charging SPKLUs. Chairani continued, thanks to digital transformation, the presence of PLN SPKLUs has become easier to find with the help of the SuperApp PLN Mobile. EV users simply need to open the PLN Mobile application in the electric vehicle menu, then the nearest PLN SPKLU will be automatically found."
