"You won't believe the belongings that this grandmother brought."
"You won't believe the belongings that this grandmother brought."
Dream - The incident of wallets, cell phones, or lost items on buses is a common sight. However, social media in China was shocked by the story of a middle-aged woman who left her savings in the bus. The public was understandably shocked because the woman lost savings worth US$206,000 (Rp3.23 billion).
According to SCMP, the 60-year-old woman with the surname Sun left her valuable belongings inside a bus in Shanghai. Fortunately, her belongings were found a few hours after she reported the loss to the bus company she was riding on.
The incident occurred on October 5 when she was boarding a bus in Minhang District. Footage from the vehicle's surveillance camera shows the woman placing a red cloth bag on a panel behind the driver's seat.
"In it there is cash amounting to US$685, identity card and social security card, several savings books, and certificate of debt. These items have a combined value of more than 1.5 million yuan or approximately Rp3.23 billion."
When the grandmother got off the bus, she forgot to take her bag. Quickly, she immediately called the bus company when she realized what she had done. "I answered the phone from this aunt. She was very anxious, but didn't clearly say what was in her bag," said Huang Jun, a bus route coordinator.
Huang contacted the bus driver who said that he found the bag and the bag is safe. The next day, when this grandmother went to the bus company, she found that all her valuable items were still intact.
When asked why she brings her savings wherever she goes, the old woman cried. Apparently, she had been a victim of robbery and was afraid to leave her valuable possessions at home. "My house was robbed last year. But luckily, things like savings books were not taken. I felt unsafe leaving them at home, so I always bring them," she said. "When I realized all my money was gone, I was very worried until I cried... Finally, I found my money. I have met kind-hearted people," Sun added.
The story of Sun has attracted wide attention on Chinese social media, including on the Douyin or TikTok platform. "Truly extraordinary! He carried so much money while being far from home," said someone. "Everyone in the world knows that you have so much money now," said another online observer.
The following is the translation of the given text from 'Bahasa' to 'English' while preserving any HTML tags: "Sun's actions are not unusual in China. In early 2023, a 76-year-old woman in Shanghai who was carrying US$27,000 in cash in a plastic bag reported her money missing. It took four police officers and six street cleaners, as well as a 10-hour search among tons of garbage, to find the bag she had left on the street."
