Dream - With the increasing ease and opportunities, many Indonesians are starting to seek their fortune by working abroad. Not only as domestic workers, many countries offer job opportunities for skilled labor. The income obtained is certainly higher compared to domestic workers. In Indonesia, the highest salary currently exists in Jakarta with a Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) of Rp5,067,381. Meanwhile, the lowest is in Central Java with a UMP value of Rp2,036,947.
"Salary of Workers in South Korea"
Income is better, that's what a man named Rizal is trying to pursue by seeking fortune as a laborer in South Korea.
Assumed to be the same as the Indonesian Minimum Wage
In his TikTok video on the @rizal_kimmy account, Rizal once showed his payslip. However, the salary received by Rizal made netizens fail to understand the amount. "All the way to Korea, the salary is the same as working in Indonesia," said the @luluui96 account in response to Rizal's payslip post.
Then Rizal made another video about his salary. He showed a white A4 paper, which contained a column or table containing working hours, percentages, and the amount of wages received per day. "Wow, it's payday time. Let's spill the salary, guys," said Rizal.
In the video, Rizal and his friends have different total salaries. Starting from 2 million to more than 3 million. "Far away in Korea, the salary is the same as working in Indonesia. Wow, coincidentally, how much is the salary for the kids, Man? Yes, the salary is the same as in Indonesia, 3.2 million," said Rizal.
The displayed salary by Rizal is actually not in Indonesian rupiah currency, but in won, the currency of South Korea. If converted from won to rupiah at the current exchange rate, 3 million won is equivalent to Rp35 million.
Rizal said that working in the Land of Ginseng is more enjoyable and not as complicated as in Indonesia. In addition, in this Land of Ginseng, there is no need for work experience to be accepted. "They say that in Indonesia, you have to be experienced to find a job. And the requirements are complicated. But here, you can work without experience, even as a laborer," said Rizal.
