Dream - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) changed the name of the national holiday Isa Al Masih to Jesus Christ. This is stated in the Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 8 of 2024 concerning Public Holidays, signed by President Jokowi on January 29, 2024. Based on a copy of the document from the Presidential Secretariat (Keppres) in Jakarta, the document mentions three considerations that underlie the decision.

The latest nomenclature is written with 16 series of holidays, including 1 January New Year's Day, 1 Muharram Islamic New Year Hijri, Isra Mi'raj of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, Eid al-Fitr (two days), Eid al-Adha, Birth of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, Holy Day of Nyepi (Saka New Year), Vesak Day, Proclamation of Independence on 17 August, Birth of Pancasila on 1 June, and International Workers' Day on 1 May.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs (Wamenag) Saiful Rahmat Dasuki said that the change of nomenclature from Isa Al Masih to Jesus Christ in the naming of national holidays is based on proposals from Christian and Catholic communities. "This is a proposal from the Christian and Catholic communities to change the nomenclature names to reflect their belief that it is the birth of Jesus Christ, the death of Jesus Christ, and the ascension of Jesus Christ," he said.
