Dream - Kemendagri (Ministry of Home Affairs), records as many as 400 thousand civil servants (ASN) consisting of Civil Servants (PNS) and Government Employees with Employment Agreements (PPPK) into the low-income community category (MBR).
General Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Suhajar Diantoro noted that the figure represents 10 percent of the total civil servants in Indonesia, which amounts to 4.2 million.
To be known, MBR itself is a community that has limited purchasing power so it needs government support to obtain a house. "From 4.2 million (ASN), we must understand that there are still our civil servants (PNS) who are considered low-income communities, MBR," said Suhajar quoted from YouTube TASPEN, Sunday, January 28, 2024.
Suhajar added, the reason why civil servants enter the MBR category is because they fulfill a number of indicators classified as poor society.
For example, civil servants whose income is below Rp 7 million per month are often found in group II. "If it's below Rp 7 million, now there is a limit to who can receive zakat. How much income is considered eligible to receive zakat. It turns out that government employees in group II are eligible to receive zakat," he said.
According to Suhajar, poverty indicators can be seen from income, and then the size of the house.
"The poverty indicator is first, the income, how much is the income. Then, the house, how many square meters? It turns out that if you belong to the II class, your job is a driver, can you have a 100 square meter house. Only when you work, maybe a 27 square meter house, one wife, two children, the house should be above 32 square meters,""

Suhajar explains that civil servants who can be categorized as MBR are also those who are married and have an income below Rp 8 million per month.
"Having an income of Rp 8 million even if married, if the wife does not work. He could potentially not be enough to support his family's decent life earlier. That's approximately how it is. But this does not include employee expenses, you know, if he has access to employee expenses not everyone has access to it,"
