Dream - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said that Indonesia has entered the upper middle income country or upper middle country. According to him, not many countries can enter this category amidst the global uncertainty post-Covid-19. "After Covid, we entered the upper middle income country again, not many countries consistently enter the upper middle," said Airlangga, quoted from Merdeka.com, Friday, January 26, 2024.
One of the factors that Indonesia can enter the upper middle-income country is the export performance throughout 2023 which managed to reach US$258.82 billion compared to the import value which touched US$221.89 billion.
"Thus, actually the macro steps taken by the Indonesian government are already on the right track," said Airlangga."
The General Chairman of the Golkar Party also estimated that Indonesia's per capita income in 2024 will reach the figure of US$5,000 to US$5,400.
"Clearly."
Besides that, Airlangga mentioned the long-term project of the Giant Sea Wall (GSW) aimed at preserving the sustainability of Java Island as one of the national economic engines.
"He believes that protecting the coastal areas of Java Island will enhance both economic and security resilience. Because in the northern corridor of Java, it should be a corridor that should not be disturbed."
"Nah, one of the disruptions is to reduce logistic costs by more than 20 percent. Well, one of them is Patimban Port. So, besides Tanjung Priok, Tanjung Emas, Tanjung Perak, there is Patimban," he concluded.
Minister Airlangga Hartarto emphasizes that there are no social assistance programs from the presidential and vice-presidential candidates
