Dream - Lufthansa Group plans to resume flights to the capital of Israel, Tel Aviv, starting from January 8, 2024. This airline group has suspended its flight routes to the largest airport in Israel for almost three months due to security issues.
"official statement from the company quoted from CNN"
"Flight schedule adjustments may need to be made due to changing conditions," he continued. Lufthansa announced on Friday that they will publish the flight schedule for January on December 18th.
In October, almost all airlines except for the Israeli airline, El Al, canceled incoming and outgoing flights from Tel Aviv.
This happened after Hamas initiated a combined weapons attack in the country and took more than 100 people hostage, and Israel responded by officially declaring war on Hamas.
On October 5th, two days before the attack, there were 63 airlines serving Tel Aviv with a total of 256 flights to the airport, according to data from aviation analysis company Cirium.
El Al contributes around 26 percent of those flights. Lufthansa has five flights a day to Tel Aviv at that time, or 2 percent of the total flights.
The latest data shows that only 10 airlines serve the airport with a total of 72 flights, and El Al is responsible for 76 percent of the flight volume. Three US airlines that have served Tel Aviv - American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines - all say that their flights to Israel remain suspended.
American and Delta said they have no plans to resume service until at least the end of March. While United did not provide a date for when they will resume service. "Our Tel Aviv flights will remain suspended until conditions allow for resumption," said a statement from United.
