"Megaproject in the Form of Straight Lines in Saudi Arabia is Considered Unreasonable"

This new city, dubbed The Line, has been designed by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.
Dream - Saudi Arabia is slowly transitioning into a modern country. Not only revolutionizing the world of football by bringing in world stars, but in recent years Saudi Arabia has also been constructing various prestigious mega projects. In January 2021, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, announced a mega project for the construction of a city called "The Line". This massive city development project is different from typical cities. As the name suggests, the shape of this city is not circular but rather in the form of a straight line.
The following 'Bahasa' text translated to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "This new city will be built along the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia and can accommodate 9 million people. The designer will create a city that is completely free of cars. To support mobility, Saudi Arabia will build a high-speed railway system that can travel from one end of the city to the other in just 20 minutes."
Quoting Popular Mechanics, the design of this city sounds like a science fiction film. A research organization in Vienna, Austria, The Complexity Science Hub, also published a paper in June in the NPJ Urban Sustainability journal, assessing that The Line project is a nightmare for its residents.
write the paper.
"demikian kelanjutannya." translates to "the continuation is as follows."
The researchers suggest an alternative in the proposal called The Circle. Instead of building in a straight line, urban planners can take the same buildings proposed for The Line and arrange them in a circle.
By making these simple changes, according to researchers, it will at least create a city with a diameter of four miles, which can still accommodate 9 million residents.
If the residents walk, they can explore nearly 25 percent of the entire city. If they walk another mile, they can already explore 66 percent of the city. The average distance between two residents randomly is about 1.8 miles, which is nearly 3 meters.
Although most of the focus is on the mathematical shortcomings of The Line's design, this paper also raises some practical issues. For example, if the main city railway line experiences damage, it can result in problems for millions of other residents. However, the seemingly reasonable arguments of the Complex Science Hub do not appear to be useful, as the construction of The Line has already begun.
