Dream - Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Teten Masduki speaks out about the operational hours regulation for Madura stalls in Klungkung, Bali. Unlike other areas, Madura stall owners in the Island of the Gods are prohibited from operating 24 hours.
Teten explained that his ministry has a policy or plans to issue any provisions that restrict the operational hours of community-owned stalls.
"So I want to clarify and assure that there is no policy or plan from the Ministry of Cooperatives to restrict the operating hours of the stalls or grocery stores owned by the community. None."

Teten explained that his Ministry has reviewed the Regional Regulation of Klungkung Regency Number 13 of 2018 concerning the Arrangement and Development of Traditional Markets, Shopping Centers, and Supermarkets.
The result of the analysis of the rules did not find any specific provision prohibiting Madura stalls from operating 24 hours a day.
"Instead, the regional government actually regulates the operational hours of modern retail. So we also ensure that all regulations at the provincial and district levels must support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).""

"He said that his party will evaluate counterproductive regional policies that are against the interests of micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM). This includes evaluating local government programs and budgets to support UMKM."
On the contrary, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, said Teten, actually encourages and supports regional governments to regulate the operational hours and business locations for modern retail markets in their respective areas. With that, Teten believes that a better and healthier business climate will be created for SMEs.
"Therefore, we continue to strive to ensure that these policies are implemented in the regions, not from the Ministry. This should provide a better space for business actors in MSMEs, especially warungs (small shops).""
