Dream - Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) managed by PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) became the busiest airport in Southeast Asia throughout April 2024. This title is based on data from OAG Aviation Worldwide Limited, a travel intelligence agency based in London, England.
The position as the busiest airport throughout April 2024, as issued by OAG, was obtained by Soekarno-Hatta by surpassing two competitors, namely Changi Airport (Singapore) and Suvarnabhumi Airport (Thailand).
PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) recorded a flight seat capacity at Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) in April 2024 reaching 3.34 million seats. This number is the highest compared to other airports in the Southeast Asia region.
Vice President Corporate Communication AP II, Cin Asmoro said, the transportation period of Lebaran 2024, which takes place from 3-18 April, also contributes to Soetta Airport as the busiest in Southeast Asia.
Executive General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Dwi Ananda, revealed that during the 2024 Eid al-Fitr transportation period from H-7 to H+4 (3-15 April), the number of passenger movements at Soekarno-Hatta Airport reached 2.02 million people, an increase of 7 percent compared to the same period in 2023 which amounted to 1.88 million people. During H-7 to H+4, airlines have also operated 994 additional flights at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
Dwi said as quoted from Liputan6.com, Friday, April 19, 2024.
During the Lebaran transportation in 2024 until H+4, the busiest destination from Soetta Airport is to Denpasar with a total of 336,610 passengers, followed by Medan with 251,699 passengers, Surabaya with 197,731 passengers, Makassar with 170,596 passengers, and Padang with 166,218 passengers.
In 2024, OAG also crowned Soetta Airport as the airport that has recovered the most from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in the Asia-Pacific region, winning the gold medal in the category of The Most Recovered Airport in the Asia-Pacific (ASPAC) Aviation Network Champions held in March 2024. Currently, flight services at Soekarno-Hatta Airport are carried out through three passenger terminals, namely Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3. All of these terminals are connected by a skytrain to facilitate the mobility of airport visitors and airplane passengers.
