The salary of the President and Vice President is stipulated in Law Number 7 of 1978 concerning the Financial/Administrative Rights of the President and Vice President, as well as Former Presidents and Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia.

"President's Salary"

In the said regulation, the president's salary is six times the highest basic salary of state officials. It is known that the highest salary of state officials is held by the Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), the Chairman of the People's Representative Council (DPR), the Chairman of the Supreme Advisory Council (DPA), the Chairman of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), and the Chairman of the Supreme Court (MA).

In Government Regulation Number 75 of 2000, the salary for those officials is Rp 5,040,000 per month. With that calculation, the salary received by the President is six times Rp 5,040,000, which is Rp 30,240,000 per month.

Apart from the salary, the president also receives allowances regulated in Presidential Decree Number 68 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Presidential Decree Number 168 of 2000 Regarding Allowances for Certain State Officials. The decree stipulates that the president's allowance is Rp 32,500,000 per month. Therefore, the total amount of salary plus the president's allowance is Rp 62,740,000 per month.

"Vice President's Salary"

The salary of the Vice President is four times the highest salary of state officials, referring to Law Number 7 of 1978. Therefore, the amount of the Vice President's salary is Rp 20,160,000 per month.

Then, the amount of allowance for the Vice President is determined to be Rp 22,000,000 per month. Therefore, the salary plus the Vice President's allowance is Rp 42,160,000 per month.
