According to Jokowi, the increase in rice prices above normal that is currently happening is triggered by the lack of harvest from the region. Another constraint is the distribution route that hampers the entry of harvest into the market. "The supply is because the harvest has not entered yet, the production has not entered the market. The distribution is also disrupted due to flooding in Demak, in Grobogan, it affects," said Jokowi quoted from Setkab.go.id.

To overcome these obstacles, the president has ordered Perum Bulog to address the rice supply from the reserves held by Perum Bulog. The Bulog rice is requested to be sent to the regions and the Cipinang Wholesale Market. With these steps, it is hoped that the price of rice will experience a slight decrease before the supply from the harvest season arrives.

Regarding the alleged increase in rice prices triggered by the government's food aid program, Jokowi denies it. He ensures that the current condition is not related to the social assistance program. On the contrary, Jokowi continues, the program was created as a government effort to control rice prices by increasing supply in society.

"Kalau enggak, justru melompat. Ini rumus supply dan demand. Kalau suplainya diberikan dan terdistribusi dengan baik, otomatis harga akan terkendali," jelasnya. "If not, it will actually jump. This is the formula of supply and demand. If the supply is given and distributed properly, the price will be automatically controlled," he explained.
