Dream - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) has implemented a trial of a four-day work week for a number of its employees. Using the term Compressed Work Schedule (CWS), this policy allows employees to enjoy 3 days off in a week.
"Good news, SOEbat! @kementerianbumn has implemented the Compressed Work Schedule (CWS) which allows SOEbat Kementerian BUMN to work only 4 days a week! 🎉🎉"
write the Instagram account manager @kementerianbumn.
Although only working four days a week, the ministry led by Erick Thohir said that the program is designed not to reduce the performance of its employees. On the contrary, CWS is expected to improve the well-being and productivity among the employees of state-owned enterprises. The CWS program is also designed to enhance work-life balance, engagement, stress, and burnout, which are currently prevalent among employees.
However, employees who work four days a week must meet strict requirements and conditions. Not all employees of the state-owned enterprises ministry will work under the CWS system.
"The requirements for applying for CWS are quite strict, so not all employees are eligible to apply."
write the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises.
Unit leaders must ensure that the number of employees taking CWS does not disrupt the operational activities of the unit and the services of the Ministry of SOEs.
"Conditions for Employees to Apply for CWS"
The terms that must be fulfilled by employees who want to apply for CWS are first, fulfilling 40 working hours per week. Second, fulfilling discipline and performance requirements. Third, preparing a work plan and output for 4 days. All of these requirements refer to the monthly individual performance targets and monthly unit performance targets.
"So even though working days are compressed, all performance targets, both individual and unit, must still be achieved, okay!" he wrote.
After the CWS trial, the Ministry of SOEs will carry out a pilot project for two months so that the CWS policy can be further evaluated. The results of this evaluation will determine the sustainability of the CWS program. The Ministry of SOEs revealed that many other countries have implemented the CWS program. As a result, employees tend to be happier, reduce stress, transportation costs, and the frequency of employee sick leave.
