Dream - There is a new mode that steals personal data from dozens of job applicants for online loans (pinjol). East Jakarta Metro Police are currently investigating the fraud case. According to a report received on June 5, 2024, there are 26 job applicants who have become victims.
The victims were promised jobs by the perpetrator and were asked to submit their ID cards (KTP) and personal photos to the suspect R. The victims' data was then used for online loans. The victims suffered losses of more than Rp1 billion.
If your ID card is misused for unauthorized online loans (pinjol), there are several steps that need to be taken to minimize the impact and prevent further misuse.
1. Immediately Report to the Police According to Liputan6.com, report this abuse to the nearest police station and make an official report. Include evidence such as notifications or evidence of unauthorized borrowing. 2. Report to OJK Report this abuse to the Financial Services Authority (OJK). You can report it through the official OJK website, the OJK call center at number 157, or via email to konsumen@ojk.go.id.
3. Block ID Card at Dukcapil
Contact your local Population and Civil Registration Office (Dukcapil) and inform them about the misuse of your ID card (KTP). Request them to block the ID card or make a note stating that the ID card has been misused.
4. Contact the Involved Online Lending Companies Contact the involved online lending companies and inform them about this misuse. Ask them to cancel any unauthorized loans and to stop bothering you. 5. Monitor Financial Activities Always check your financial activities, including bank accounts and credit reports, to ensure there are no suspicious or unauthorized transactions.
6. Create a Statement Letter
Create a statement letter that explains that your ID card has been misused for unauthorized loans. Include a copy of the police report and evidence of communication with the relevant party.
7. Do Not Pay Loans Do not pay loans that you did not apply for. Stick to the fact that you are a victim of identity theft. 8. Be Aware of Other Scams After your ID card is misused, there is a possibility that your identity can also be used for other scams. Source: Liputan6.com
