Dream - This is the story of a man who has lived without money for 15 years. He is Mark Boyle, also known as The Moneyless Man. Mark has been living a lifestyle without spending a single penny since 2008. His decision began one night in 2007. At that time, he was discussing with his friend about the world's problems and trying to find the best way to overcome them in order to make a change.
At that moment he realized that money is the root of most problems. He also remembered the famous quote by Mahatma Gandhi, which is 'Be the change you wish to see in the world'.
"Then I realized, the root of it all is money, which creates a sort of disconnect between us and our actions, whether it be through factories, agricultural industries, or wars, and I decided to see if it's possible not to do it."
According to CNN International, quoted from Oddity Central, Saturday, October 7, 2023.
"Mark Boyle has actually graduated with a degree in business and economics. He also quickly secured a lucrative job at an organic food company in Bristol, England."
However, he left all of that since the thought that money is the root of all problems emerged. Mark began to live without money by moving into an old caravan that was donated to him because initially they wanted to throw it away.
In the first few months, Mark admitted to living a very difficult life. He had to replace all the comforts he used to have, like a cup of coffee in the morning, with things he could get for free from nature. "If you think about how disruptive it is when you just move houses or change jobs, imagine if you had to change everything at once. But after a few months, everything became very easy, I could already do all my routines," Mark said.
The following is the translation of the given 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "Lifestyle of Mark went viral and became a hot topic when he launched his book titled 'The Moneyless Man'. He explained the challenges he faced while living his transformed life. Mark also explained the philosophy that drove him to make drastic changes in his life."
"Ironically, I feel that the past two years have been the most satisfying period of my life," wrote Mark Boyle in 2010. "I have more friends in my community than ever before, I have not been sick since I started, and I have never felt healthier. I have discovered that friendship, not money, is true security. Most poverty in the West is psychological. True freedom is interdependence," he expressed."
Until 2017, Mark decided to take his minimalist lifestyle to a higher level by quitting industrialization. He avoided most of the technology we enjoy every day, ranging from electricity and clean water to radio and the internet, and returned to a simpler way of life.
"I, among others, am bored of doing the same thing every day, using complicated technology, which I suppose makes those who produce it bored as well. That is partly why I reject it. Living without water, electricity, or machines, my life would certainly become more complex."
he said.
Boyle explained that living the way he does is not easy, and he knows that not everyone can follow his example. However, he hopes that his example can at least inspire people to not rely too much on money and industrialization. "I am not romanticizing the past. But I am also not romanticizing the future. I have lived with technology and without technology, and I know which one gives me the most peace and satisfaction," said Mark.
