Restriction Rules on the Number of Goods Sent by Indonesian Migrant Workers to Indonesia Canceled

The translated text while preserving the html tags would be: "The goods sent are not for trading again."

"Dream - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) stated that there are no longer any restrictions on the number of shipments or imported goods owned by Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) or female workers (TKW) and Indonesian workers (TKI) sent back to the homeland."

Unless Traded Again, the Rule Restricting the Number of Goods Sent by Indonesian Migrant Workers to Indonesia is Canceled

"The important point is that there is no limit to the number of items in each shipment. Furthermore, these imported items can be in new or used condition,"

The text translation is as follows, while preserving the HTML tags: The words of the Director of Import at the Directorate General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade, Arif Sulistiyo, quoted from Merdeka.com, Friday, May 3, 2024.

The decision was made based on the results of a limited coordination meeting at the ministerial level. PMI import goods are goods sent by PMI or Indonesian migrant workers (TKW and TKI) who are currently working abroad. Then, these PMI delivery goods are not intended for trading.

Unless Traded Again, the Rule Restricting the Number of Goods Sent by Indonesian Migrant Workers to Indonesia is Canceled

"From these two points, we finally agree that it is not necessary to regulate in the Minister of Trade Regulation on import policies and regulations. So, this PMI shipment is not regulated in the Permendag."

"Arif said."

To ensure whether the shipment is for Indonesian migrant workers or not, there is currently a system integration between the National Agency for Placement and Protection of Indonesian Workers (BP2MI), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and also the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.

Unless Traded Again, the Rule Restricting the Number of Goods Sent by Indonesian Migrant Workers to Indonesia is Canceled

"Then the important point is that the arrangement of PMI shipment refers to the provisions of PMK Number 141 of 2023 regarding the provisions of PMI goods import implemented by friends from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise,"

Arif.

He mentioned that there are no restrictions on the types of goods to import for the first Indonesian Migrant Worker, except for prohibited goods and dangerous goods.

Unless Traded Again, the Rule Restricting the Number of Goods Sent by Indonesian Migrant Workers to Indonesia is Canceled

Goods prohibited from import are regulated in the Minister of Trade Regulation Number 40 of 2022 concerning amendments to Minister of Trade Regulation Number 18 of 2021 concerning Goods Prohibited for Export and Goods Prohibited from Import.

"He mentioned prohibited and dangerous items such as rough diamonds, non-pharmaceutical precursor commodities, nitrocellulose (NC), explosives, substances that deplete the ozone layer (BPO), refrigerant-based items, hydrofluorocarbon (HFC), used lithium batteries, and non-hazardous waste. 'So, these items are not allowed to be carried by PMI friends because it concerns safety, health, and environmental security,' said Arif."
